Sheeting Machine

Widely used in the bakery industry, the Burgess sheeting machine or sheeter converts a large range of bakery and confectionery materials from miscellaneous shapes and sizes into continuous sheets of a pre-determined maximum width but in thicknesses which may be varied by a simple adjustment.

Narrower widths are available by using cutters and shorter scraper blades.

Thickness is highly consistent, to the extent that the sheet is generally used without a further sizing operation.

Top surface finish is excellent, with some materials such as sugar ice emerging flawless by most standards, the reverse side also has a good but nor perfect surface.

Processes shortcrust pastry, sweet pastry, short biscuit mix, shortbread, continuous pastry laminator dough, pizza dough, pitta bread dough, sugar ice, marzipan and some types of caramel.

Also supplied as a lane sheeter, to produce billets for blocking on pie and tart machines, with the facility to change the profiled bottom roll quickly.

Sheeting Machine

The latest Burgess sheeter draws on over forty years of experience. All possible refinements are combined with robust construction.

Two top rolls with greatly increased diameters and made from heavy wall stainless steel tube reduce bridging of very short or tough raw materials in the hopper to the practical minimum. The bottom roll is larger still and has a thicker wall.

Breakage of roll shafts has been guarded against by enlarging the shaft diameters but still using hardened and tempered stainless steel, a feature unique to Burgess.

Twin drives with heavy duty gears and duplex chain remain standard.

All guards are to British/European Standard EN 294:1992 dimensions and switched to stop the sheeter of disturbed while the machine is operational.

Specification

Stainless Steel (Type 304) contact parts, including rolls, hopper scraper assembly.

Two top rollers 200mm diameter with a wall thickness of 16mm. Normally one is supplied fluted and the second knurled to give optimum feed of material, but
with certain softer materials one roller fluted and the other plain is preferable.

Product roll 300mm diameter with a wall thickness of 26mm. Smooth finish.

Roll shafts 72mm diameter in hardened and tempered (Condition T) stainless steel.

Both ends of each shaft mounted in high duty double row angular thrust ball bearings.

Clutch fitted to the drive of the top two rolls to allow turning by hand for easy cleaning.

Adjustable cheek plates in food quality abrasion-resistant plastic.

Scraper blades in high density polyethylene.

Mobile cantilevered frame in Type 304 stainless steel for sheet widths up to 815mm.

For sheet widths greater than 815mm, the machine must be supported at both sides of the conveyor.

Sheet production to consumer specification in any width up to 1100mm.

Sheet thickness adjustable over a range of 17mm, usually 3mm to 20mm.

Twin drives, each with a high quality 1.1kw motor with variable speed through inverters.

Output: comfortably up to 6.10 metres (20 feet) per minute with certain pastries but sometimes less, depending on the product.

Safety guards and switches to BS EN 294:1992
